Templates and Setup

A few questions on first entry, and a set of working workflows chosen to match the answers.

A blank workspace is a bad first experience. When you first enter a new organisation, SynapseOrch Cloud asks a short set of questions and uses the answers to offer workflows worth starting from.

The questions

The first one forks: Who is this workspace for? A business or team, or just you.

  • A business or team — then the industry, how big the company is and your role.
  • Just me — then what you do.

Then, for both: Which tools do you already use?, the two model questions below, and What do you want to automate first?

Each question has Skip. The questions close only from their own ✕, Don't show again or Escape, so a stray click outside never loses your answers. Skipping costs you the recommendations, not the templates, which stay under Workflows › Templates.

Only owners and admins are asked, since the answers configure the organisation rather than your personal account. If you close the questions before choosing templates, a bar across the workspace offers them again: Complete, or Pick templates once only that step is left, beside Don't show again.

Choose your models

Two of the questions set up the workspace's models.

Do you already have an API key for an AI provider? Pick the providers you have keys for and paste each key into its card; it becomes the workspace's key for that provider, under Settings › Models. With none, SynapseOrch's own models run everything: No API key needed; pay as you go, from the model wallet and the plan's $2.00 monthly model allowance.

Pick your two models. One runs your workflows and agents every day; the other is Synapse AI's, the assistant that builds them. Same as everyday model makes the second follow the first. SynapseOrch's own models show their price beside them. You can change both later under Settings › Models.

Templates

The last step, Start with ready-made workflows, lists templates recommended for your answers. Each one is a real, working set of agents and workflows — not a stub. Adding one creates its agents, its workflow and any tools it needs, and you edit from there.

  • Recommended templates are ticked for you, as many as your plan has room for; the count reads, for example, 2 of 3 workflows on the Free plan. Ticking past it says so — over the plan's workflows — untick one, or upgrade — and Add waits until it fits.
  • A template that connects to an app says so on its card — Connects to Gmail — and brings that server with it. Finish the connection under Apps; Home's Getting started lists what is waiting.
  • A template that needs a bigger plan says Needs Team or higher.

After installing

A template is a starting point, and it is yours the moment it lands:

  • Read the workflow on the canvas before running it, so you know what it will do
  • Check which model each step uses — a template ships with sensible defaults, not with yours
  • Adjust the system prompts; this is where a generic workflow becomes your workflow

Getting started on Home

A new workspace's Home leads with Getting started, a path that ticks itself as you go:

  1. Connect a model — done from the start on Cloud, since SynapseOrch's models need no key.
  2. Build a workflow — from a template, or with Synapse AI.
  3. Run it once.
  4. Answer its first question — the approval or the human step it asks.
  5. Let it run on its own — a schedule, a channel or the widget.
  6. Connect what you told us about — the apps your answers named, if any; optional.

It folds to one line after the first run, and an admin's Don't show again hides it for the workspace.

Starting from nothing instead

Templates are an offer, not a path you are locked into. Describe what you want to Synapse AI and it will build it, or start from an empty workflow if you would rather place the steps yourself.
